Dr. Nathaniel S. Hussell maintains a very active career teaching and performing in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. He has also performed with the M Street Brass Quintet, Tyson’s McLean Orchestra, Annandale Brass, Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, Loudoun Symphony, and the Cathedral Brass. He also is an 'adjunct' with the Atoka String Quartet playing weddings and events throughout the Hunt Country region of Virginia. In 2014 Dr. Hussell garnered positive reviews from the Washington Post and other DC media outlets for his performance as principal trumpet on the world premiere of Wynton Marsalis’s first symphony “Blues Symphony.” In 2010 he was a finalist in the National Trumpet Competition. As an educator Dr. Hussell teaches elementary school band for Fairfax County Public Schools and maintains a thriving private studio. His private students’ accomplishments include National Symphony Youth Fellowships, Young Artist Program at Tanglewood, American Youth Philharmonic, All-State, All-District, and Superiors at Solo and Ensemble Festival. Dr. Hussell teaches all levels of trumpet student out of his home studio in the City of Fairfax, VA.
Dr. Hussell trained under the tutelage of Dr. Scott Nelson at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA. He holds a DMA and MM from Shenandoah, and BA in Music from Virginia Tech.
